Have you ever heard someone say…
“I’m only telling you this or doing this because I love you…” but what followed didn’t sound or feel like love at all?
Instead of feeling supported, you felt ashamed.
Instead of being built up, you felt broken down.
That kind of “love” often leaves a deeper wound than silence ever could.
Some of what we’ve been taught as correction or godly love has actually been control in disguise.
Not all rebuke is rooted in love.
Not all “truth-telling” is led by grace.
And not all spiritual discipline reflects the heart of God.
💡 What Does Love Actually Look Like?
According to Romans 2:4,
“It is God’s kindness that leads us to repentance.”
Not fear. Not pressure. Not guilt. Kindness.
🔁 God’s Love Doesn’t Manipulate
Love never corners you.
It doesn’t use guilt to keep you in line.
It doesn’t shout, shame, or hover over you with threats of rejection.
Instead, it gently invites.
God’s love covers, never condemns.
It heals. It draws you closer, even when you’re at your lowest.
🕊 Real correction doesn’t crush—it restores.
Let’s stop confusing control with care.
Labeling shame as spiritual strength. Let’s stop mistaking fear for faith.
Because God is not in the business of behavior modification—He’s in the business of heart transformation. And transformation always starts with love.
💬 Let’s Reflect:
Have you ever received “correction” that felt more like shaming than compassion?
Have you ever doubted whether God’s love was safe after hearing fear-based messages, like: you'll go to hell, or will be rejected - if...?
You’re not alone. And more importantly—you’re not disqualified.
You are fully loved, even while still figuring it all out.
